Was inspired today to make up my own tarot-inspired imagery and arcana, so here's the SPARROW AT REST.

The symbol of the "Sparrow at Rest," when invoked by fortune tellers, can be a warning of hardships to come or a sign of self-neglect, leading to the weakening of one's spiritual foundations. there's something profoundly melancholic about rodrigo in s3 like...ever since he buried juan in the garden and felt betrayed by his family for not mourning his loss, he distanced himself from them and became filled with sadness and grief as he hallucinates his younger son out of guilt for the whole mess he caused him by placing heavy expectations on his shoulders which ultimately led juan to become the target of enmity and envy from his siblings. and throughout the season he's always hiding his face either sitting alone somewhere forsaking his duties at saint peter's chair or lingering in the vatican garden just to feel close to him, and at times he even daydreams about his own death hoping to see him again. what stands out is how the narrative is stylized without explicitly mentioning juan's name but his aftermath simply haunted the story and reshaped the family's dynamics forever after the fratricide. i'm also very impressed by how jeremy irons embodied all the sorrow and nostalgia into rodrigo, someone who views his children as the light of his life yet ultimately messes up their lives with his ambitions.

Unfortunately, China doesn't get any special naps in meetings (even though he demands them). Sure, some may look up to him, but most just treat him like any other nation.

Now if you're talking about humans, he definitely gets a lot of perks. It'd be really funny if he walks into a shop and after his groceries get rung up, he says "Oh, these 4,000 years have really worn me down. do you have a discount available for someone whose been around for that long?"

Yo!! I've got a lil' question that you've probably answered before. I was wondering why Cy has 2 god tiers? Like is it just because he can, for shits n' giggles, or for a narrative reason? (I've been going over this in my head for weeks now dear god)

OH no there is an actual reason- make of the explanation what you will. To me it at least makes some sense, this will be long but I love to break it all down (its also a bit sad!) So... Cyrusk is odd. His personality, the way he interacts with people, the way he solves problems, the things that are key to who he is all point towards him being a Lord. The Lord of Mind is his godtier, thats the one at his core. However he is the Knight of Mind in like 99.99999999% something of the sessions that are played. The Knight is also still him but it prioritizes the protector parts over the controller parts both of which are part of what makes him him. He is both sides but one is not allowed to exist... unless under certain circumstances.

(handful of his dif iterations for sburb) The problem with being a Lord in a group sburb game though is that they are way overpowered, and he doesnt have a Muse to balance him out either. Sburb is-if nothing else-a world bending game that adapts and changes to its players but its also an enigma, its kinda alive in its own right. In a group sburb game the conditions are not set to have a Lordling in its session cuz they are supposed to play solo in dead sessions like the Cal's session. Now Cyrusk can play solo BUT theres a very specific way for him to even get to the point where he can. The sad part is it needs to be when everyone else in his session is dead and conditions are now set to enter into a dead session, one built for a Lordling. To do this he needs to find his denizen Janus. Thing about Janus is it has two faces and one is always asleep at least its always asleep when he can only be the Knight.

(art by cheshireArtist) The asleep face wakes when a Lordling has the availability to be in play and its the one that gives him the Lord's "Ultimate Choice". Either he can die here, be with everyone else and be at peace... OR he can live and take a shot at a new session and maybe see everyone again. Its not a scratch its not turning back time its entering into the session thats built for the Lord. Once Cyrusk enters a new session as a solo player its that dead session where he plays as a Lordling. If he goes through with it and wins he will become a fully realized Lord of Mind. And theres the thing... yeah he doesnt get a new universe but he gets something that can be even better~

But thats for another time. Just know a Lord of Mind Cyrusk is game breaking.

Its pretty easy to tell if Heart or Mind are gaving s nightmare.

For Heart, he usually starts mumbling or muttering in his sleep, stratching as his chest or arms. He also looks extremely upset, usually.

For Mind, his breathing gets exponentially faster, and usually he starts shaking. He usually starts to grab at whatever’s closest to him.

Somehow, they both can just… recognize when each other is having a nightmare. They just know, even when the signs aren’t obvious. Especially when the nightmare is more like a flashback than anything else. They usually wake the other up and wait until they’ve both calmed down before going back to sleep.

oh yeah and then soul is just there LMAO- he does have a similar nightmare-radar instinct to heart and mind though.

I've been trying to figure out a dynamic between neve and rye that I find more compelling, because right now there's not much of anything there for me to sink my little teeth into. but I think I've landed on something delicious with the idea that especially after minrathous gets fucked, rye looks at neve and sees myrna -- someone he feels he keeps letting down horribly no matter how hard he tries not to and can't quite achieve the approval of/connection with that he wishes so it's better to just pull away completely and disengage rather than stay in that unshifting shame. neve is (very understandably) measured and distant with him after what happened, and he's flashing back to his student days of myrna gazing at the perpetually hungover heartbroken heap of a person of him on the other side of her desk every time he missed the deadline of a paper or project like '...can we at least both agree that this is. a bit disappointing. especially considering your potential.' (and him all smudged black eyeshadow and numb ruefulness being like 'sure that's a very kind way to put it myrna thank you'.)

aside from the 'if I let him get too deeply into this he'll go the way of brom and it'll be all my fault (again)' element, neve thinks rye is dismissing her and her city/being a bit callous in the same way he was after varric's death (listen. how fucking wild must rook's reaction to losing a beloved mentor seem to the rest of the crew who aren't seeing the blood magic paper doll ghost varric the whole time, especially those who got to see them interact. you WOULD think 'there's something wrong with this guy. putting the job first is one thing just not seeming to react at all is another this is fucking freaky', wouldn't you, especially after seeing the warmth in that dynamic in action beforehand.) perfect storm of two people who grit their teeth and turn inwards in pain deciding that not talking about it is their best bet (NEWSFLASH: IT ISN'T) lmao

(rye spent his last year of watcher training on a mostly joyless bender and then got it together enough to finish the eternal orb project last moment in a fevered near-sleepless week instead of the half a year that was intended. emmrich is both astounded and distressed to hear this. ("well you see there was no one to stop me from doing it like that but me. and under those conditions these things tend to happen".) rye was working through/looking up stuff around transitioning and doing every kind of OTHER high level watcher research through that whole time, but ultimately he's an excellent watcher and a terrible student, at least under traditional methods. adhd from here to the fucking moon. touched by something akin to divine inspiration in moments of high tension that pulls all the threads into one coherent unbreakable cord, a bit of a frayed mess in most other settings. in our world he'd be dropping out of a masters program at the very last hurdle in this moment maker bless and protect him)
